Fair trade hardware

We are a bunch of geeks that very much love our gadgets.
But we are deeply concerned about the way they are manufactured.

Pretty much every single hardware company in the world manufactures hardware in the Middle/Far East because wages are extremely low and competitive there. Companies like Apple, Intel, Microsoft, AMD, etc., are all guilty of either abusing their workers or allowing their providers to treat people like slaves.

As an example, the cost for building an iPod Nano in 2006 was only £41, of which labour costs amounted to £4.20. It was sold for £179.

Sometimes parts are even sold at zero-profit in order to maintain competitivity.

Surely all this has to come at a cost. An environmental and human cost.
